Native North Americans used the sap and green parts of the Greenland Moss plant to cleanse, calm, and to ceremoniously bring emotions into the light of consciousness. The plant's leaves were chewed simply to enjoy their sweet flavor and benefit the mouth.
The essential oil is well used as an addition to facial steam baths to tone, condition, and improve skin's appearance. Slip into serums with Frankincense, Immortelle, and Lavender.
"Around one thousand kilograms of wild-harvest Greenland Moss are required to make one kilo of oil. It grows in peat bogs in out of the way places, and even well north of the snow line. This certainly contributes to the power of its effects."
~ S. Catty, Hydrosols: The Next Aromatherapy
"Greenland Moss is a new entry into the circle of commonly used essential oils. Represented in the 1990 edition of L'aromatherapie exactement, it has gained larger popularity through Anne-Marie Giraud-Robert's work [which we recommend researching]."
