In the autumn of 1926, the Nobel Laureate fell ill with a heart ailment while traveling through Europe. He retreated to a sanatorium on the sun-drenched shores of Lake Balaton in Balatonfüred, Hungary, where lakeside air and deep rest were the primary prescription. Following his recovery, guided by ancient Indian wisdom that planting a tree ensures longevity, Tagore planted a young Linden tree in the local park.
