Gracious groves of Orange trees bloom blossoms of this ambrosial aroma. This luxurious absolute is a rich, complex, aromatic dream of heady florals and nuanced greens. To create one pound of this exquisite essence, 880 pounds of flowers are harvested. When distilled to perfection, the absolute offers a far richer, more mysterious experience than the ethereal steam distilled Neroli for knowing noses. This honeyed, sultry, complex absolute has been lovingly applied by natural perfumers and floral fans for centuries. It is unabashed, exotic, and seriously sensual!
Orange Blossom Absolute is distilled from the same flowering bitter orange tree as Neroli essential oil. While Neroli is steam distilled, Orange Blossom absolute is solvent-extracted to capture a far richer, thicker, more viscous absolute with incredible tenacity.
This floral absolute a heady hypnotic, decidedly decadent, and elegantly exotic aroma. Only when it is diluted do the florals open up and really begin to sing. The essence can be blended with other citruses to marvelous effect, especially Neroli, Bergamot, and Petitgrain. You can also choose to temper the complexity and richness of the oil with a burst of fresh Lavender, or play with the earthy, green middle notes by blending with spicier oils like Ginger or Cardamom. The soft, delicate name bestowed upon Orange Blossom Absolute belies its confidence, its assuredness, and its undeniable sex appeal. This oil is euphoric, bold, and a bit audacious. It is a charismatic aromatic for confidence-boosting and resiliency.
"Orange blossom absolute is very important in perfumery, contributing to the heart of fragrances (often the 'white flowers' type). Only when diluted does the absolute smell like flowers. It is dominated by linalool (fresh, floral and woody), linalyl acetate (fresh, light, herbal and fruity pear/drops), nerolidol (delicate, floral, green), farnesol (delicate, sweet, floral and green), and also contains the rosy-scented phenylethanol and methyl anthranilate (orange flower, fruity, dry), which is a nitrogen-containing ester also found in mandarin oil."
~ Jennifer Peace Rhind, Listening to Scent: An Olfactory Journey with Aromatic Plants and Their Extracts
"The rose, the jasmine and the orange flower – the three floral graces of perfume creation! The rose we call the queen of flowers, the jasmine the fairest and prettiest princess, but the orange flower is the most fragile and dainty of our royal family of flowers. It stirs our memories, the jasmine our hopes, the orange flower stirs sentiments – sentiments most romantic!"
~ Jill Jesse, Perfume Album
Know'st thou the land where the orange-tree bloom, Where the gold orange glows in the deep thickets' gloom; Where a wind ever soft from the blue heaven blows, And the groves are of laurel and myrtle and rose."
~ Goethe
How do we love thee, orange tree? Let us count the ways.Â
Our hearts and noses are filled with gratitude for the many aromatic gifts of the generous orange tree. The hypnotic floral fantasy of Neroli is produced by steam distilling the orange tree’s fragrant white flowers, and opulent Orange Blossom Absolute uses a solvent extraction method on those same fragrant flowers to capture a richer, thicker, and more viscous essence that has incredible tenacity in perfumery. Twiggy-tangy Petitgrain oil is a steam distillation of the orange tree’s leaves and stems, and it is perfectly poised to refresh the senses, revive the skin, and reinvigorate the spirit. Cold-pressed orange peels release bright and sunny Orange Essential Oil used as fresh, sparkling notes in perfumes and is nearly always used as a top note. Neroli Fleurs sur Petitgrain is a captivating co-distillation of Neroli blossoms with the twigs and leaves of Petitgrain to create an enchanting, super sensual scent.
